Oconee County Chamber of Commerce

Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a full-time Executive Director.  The position reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leading the organization to successfully achieve its mission of service to chamber members.  The Director will be responsible for hiring and management of chamber staff; all areas of member relations; executive support to the Board; serve as community and municipal liaison; and serve as an advocate for local, regional, state and, if appropriate, national activities relating to business policy, legislation and regulation affecting our members and community at-large.  A detailed job description is located on the chamber website and can be accessed at:  www.oconeechambersc.org.

Qualifications and skills required:

  •      A Bachelor’s degree in professional discipline, or equivalent experience, relevant to providing executive leadership for an organization of this type.
  •        Executive level business and/or leadership experience to ensure effective and profitable operations through optimal use of human and financial resources, equipment and technology, and processes in order to fulfill the goals of the Chamber.
  •       Ensure effective communication with the Board of Directors, Board Chair, Committee Chairs, Chamber Members, all outside stakeholders, governmental entities and internal staff.
  •       Coordinate, support and participate in all Chamber events and programs.
  •     Act as spokesperson for the Chamber, or as delegated; manage all aspects of media relations, including social media platforms and local media outlets.
  •     Manage chamber revenue cycle process including member billing, receipt of income, proper cash handling, and preparation of financial statements and reports to Board.
  •        A professional and positive image through appropriate appearance, grooming, demeanor, and comments.
  •         A clear awareness of our members’ businesses and needs as well of industry and community challenges
  •        Strong organizational and communications skills, written and oral, as well as the ability to make group presentations.
  •       The ability to work collaboratively and positively across multiple groups, organizations and with those from diverse backgrounds with differing opinions and needs.
  •      Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization
  •        Strong computer skills, literacy in Microsoft Office suite programs and ability to manage membership database through our Wild Apricot platform.
  •    Deadline oriented and ability to travel to area events/meetings
  •      Certified Chamber Executive accreditation, preferred

This is an exempt, salaried position and salary will be commiserate with qualifications and experience and includes basic benefits.
